Run TeamSpeak under a dedicated system account, open only required ports and protect the admin token and ServerQuery credentials.

Install TeamSpeak 3 server

Check the current Linux server release on the official TeamSpeak download page and download the archive directly from there. Do not run the service permanently as root.

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo useradd --system --home /opt/teamspeak --shell /usr/sbin/nologin teamspeak
sudo install -d -o teamspeak -g teamspeak /opt/teamspeak
sudo -u teamspeak tar -xjf teamspeak3-server_linux_amd64-*.tar.bz2 -C /opt/teamspeak --strip-components=1
sudo -u teamspeak touch /opt/teamspeak/.ts3server_license_accepted
sudo -u teamspeak /opt/teamspeak/ts3server_startscript.sh start

Store the Server Admin Token and query credentials securely. Expose only the required ports, add a systemd unit, and test restarts and updates before using the server in production.
