Running Kasm Workspaces: Requirements, installation and access

Browser-based workspaces need sufficient storage, TLS and clear access rules. This guide frames the installation and initial hardening steps.

Installation

Kasm streams browser and desktop containers to the browser. Check the current system requirements for your expected number of concurrent sessions first.

Download the current single-server archive and its published SHA256 checksum from the official installation page to /tmp. Save the checksum line as kasm_release.sha256 and validate it before extracting.

cd /tmp
sha256sum --check kasm_release.sha256
tar -xf kasm_release_*.tar.gz
sudo bash kasm_release/install.sh

Save the login details shown after installation. Access: https://YOUR-IP → Admin (e.g. [email protected]), then switch to Workspaces and start browser/desktop.
